Biography

Dr. Dipanjan Das Majumdar is an Assistant Professor (Stage II) of Geography at Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya in Ashoknagar, West Bengal. Born on April 14, 1986, he hails from Contai, Purba Medinipur, and belongs to the General category. The son of Debiprasad Das Majumdar and the late Sipra Das Majumdar, Dr. Majumdar pursued his higher education at esteemed institutions like Vidyasagar University, University of Calcutta, ISI, and Jadavpur University. He obtained his Honours in Geography from Vidyasagar University in 2006, securing First Class and the 5th position in the order of merit. Subsequently, he completed his Masters in Geography from the University of Calcutta in 2008, attaining First Class and ranking 2nd in the order of merit. In 2011, Dr. Majumdar qualified the CSIR-UGC NET examination in Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences. His academic journey continued with a Ph.D. (Science) degree in Remote Sensing & GIS and Geology from Vidyasagar University and the University of Calcutta in 2016. His research acumen led him to work as a CSIR Research Associate at Jadavpur University in 2018 and an MHRD Post-Doctoral Fellow at the same institution in 2019.

Academic Interest

Academic pursuits of Dr. Dipanjan Das Majumdar span across the fields of Geomorphology, Remote Sensing, GIS, and Geospatial Sciences. With a PhD in Science he has conducted research in areas such as land surface temperature quantification, urban land use transformation, coastal dune vulnerability, Land Subsidence monitoring and sedimentary facies analysis. His research has been published in reputed international journals and he has presented his work at numerous international and national conferences, demonstrating his active engagement with the broader scientific community. His research interests, publications, and training experiences reflect a strong academic foundation in geospatial sciences, with a particular focus on applying remote sensing and GIS techniques to analyze diverse environmental and geomorphological phenomena.
