The North 24 Parganas Krishi Vigyan Kendra-I, under the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Ashoknagar, organised a 5-Day Training Programme on Freshwater Ornamental Fish Breeding from 5th to 9th January 2026. The programme was funded by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Government of India, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods through ornamental fishery. The training provided participants with hands-on knowledge and technical skills in breeding and rearing freshwater ornamental fish species, opening avenues for entrepreneurship and self-employment in the growing ornamental fish trade. The initiative reflects the commitment of KVK and associated institutions towards empowering the rural youth and fishing community of North 24 Parganas with cutting-edge vocational skills.
